From 0-1,000: Foolproof Ways to Substantially Grow Your Site Traffic

September 3, 2018

Traffic is the lifeblood of any website.

The one aim of all marketing efforts is to boost sales. To achieve this online, you need to drive traffic to your website to convert it to a significant number of leads or sales.

Traffic and conversion go hand in hand. Without traffic, you can’t convert anything, and without conversion, your efforts to drive traffic are futile.

It’s safe to say, therefore, that the initial focus of your digital marketing efforts should be to gain qualified traffic. The more visitors you drive to your website, the bigger the effect on your bottom line.

But just like most good things, quality traffic is often elusive, and visitors rarely come in huge volumes.

While it’s near impossible to drive a thousand visitors to a new website overnight, there are proven ways to increase your site’s visit from 0-1000, such as the following techniques:

Set up your framework

The success of a website depends on whether it meets two crucial aspects:

1. If it leads your visitors to do what you want them to do

2. If it is easy for search engines to understand

In meeting these criteria and setting up the framework for your website, it’s important to prioritize these four elements: site architecture, design, website speed, and meta tags.

Site Architecture

Site architecture refers to how a website is laid out and how the pages connect with one another. The site architecture must always be interesting to look at, intuitive to navigate, and functional. You can achieve this by coming up with main topics that you then turn into post categories. Then, you may assign up to five subcategories for every main topic.

An organized site architecture lets your visitors find the information they need fast, as well as makes it easy for you to optimize any new or existing content.

Design

For your visitors to stay on your page long enough to trigger conversion, make it easy for them to navigate your site and read your content. A cluttered sidebar may break your conversion rates. On the other hand, a clean sidebar with lots of white helps your readers focus on your content.

If you are big on design, make sure to go for one that looks both attractive and professional. Even if your brand is all fun and quirky, you can still find ways to incorporate your fun side into your website without compromising the sense of authority.

Website Speed

Loading time is the top contributor to website abandonment. Several studies and surveys in the past have established that slower page response times often result in a spike in page abandonment. Meanwhile, a fast site creates a good user experience (UX), and a pleasant UX is likely to lead to higher conversions.

Site speed is as important on mobile as it is on the desktop. In fact, as the volume of mobile searches overtakes desktop searches, site speed on mobile became more important than ever to Google. In what it calls a “mobile first index,” the search giant has changed its ranking factors to prioritize blistering fast websites.

To optimize page speed, you may use a content delivery network (CDN) to facilitate the quick transfer of data to your users, regardless of their geographic locations. If you’re using a WordPress site, try installing plugins that improve website speed such as Lazy Load, W3 Total Cache, WP Smush.it, and Google Libraries.

Metadata

Content is king, and well-written, properly optimized metadata is its best knight. Optimizing your site’s meta titles, headings, and meta descriptions can lead to a significant increase in organic traffic, volume of new visitors, and most importantly, conversions.

When optimizing metadata, remember to keep meta titles and headings to 70 characters (including spaces) max. For meta descriptions, Google now displays SERP (search engine result page) snippets with up to 300 characters. The old limit was 160 characters.

1. Produce better content

When it comes to content, good enough is never good enough. For Google to prioritize the indexing of your website, your content must be lengthy. That is the rule. But the reality is, many people online don’t have the time or patience to read blogs. For this reason, your content must be epic. It must pique your readers’ curiosity and inspire them to take action.

Pillar articles are the cornerstone of a successful web page. A pillar article is one that inspires your readers to take immediate action right after they finish reading, whether it’s to like, share, or leave a comment.

A pillar article must:

  • Present detailed information that solves your readers’ struggles
  • Be well-researched, citing facts supported by previous studies on the matter
  • Contain 2,000 rods and more, usually following a tutorial-style format.
  • Be relevantly linked to other articles, blogs, or other authority websites

When writing content, remember that lists and segments are easier to read than huge chunks of text. Make sure to check the Flesch Reading Ease score, and see that it matches the reading level of your audience. Generally, it’s best to aim for a score of 60% and above. Choose the correct font and font sizes, as these can also affect readability.

2. Get social

In expanding your online presence, social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are great for sharing content and high in domain authority. At least for now, your social media profiles on these platforms will rank higher versus your website when customers perform a brand search. It is, therefore, important to complete your profiles and give it the same attention that you would your website content. Make your profiles high-quality and include relevant keyword phrases.
